This graceful plant is hardy up through Boston, Mass, even though it is native to north Africa, southern Europe. It was introduced to the American colonies to make clothing, but was not cultivated extensively due to popularity of cotton. It is such a drought tolerant plant for border, or hillside or meadow, but give a well -drained light soil for happiest stands. Reseeds when happy.
