| Chicory is an oxymoron of a plant. People love to see the lively sailor-heads of Cichorium intybus bobbing in the breeze on a roadside, but they complain about how common the basal rosette looks, much like a large dandelion. Well, we can't all always look our best. But you can't beat Chicory for a long-lasting, drought- and mow-tolerant(rare in a wildflower) gem that won't stop blooming once it starts, blooms fading by afternoon and new bright blues in the morning. From Northern Africa, Europe and Western Asia, Chicory is well-naturalized and tough as they come. |
